Well, for your listening pleasure (or sometimes momentary pain), I have posted a few recordings of
myself at piano online here. They were all made with almost no planning-ahead, so they aren't
terrific per-se, but well, how can I get any better if I never let others listen, right?

.
Rachmaninoff - Piano Concerto no 2 - TWO PIANOS - Mov 1
Recorded on 2009 / 12 / 24
Notes: Attempt to play the orchestra part on a second piano, synchronized to the solo part.
I am very passionate about the piece but I ... hope it shows.
.
Rachmaninoff - Piano Concerto no 2 - Mov 1 (piano part only) take two ** VIDEO **
Recorded on 2009 / 12 / 01
Notes: Meh.
.
Rachmaninoff - Piano Concerto no 2 - Mov 1 (piano part only) ** VIDEO **
(part 1)
(part 2)
Recorded in 2009 / 09 / 04
Notes: Sorry this sounds so harsh. This is partly because of the dynamics of the room but also
because I don't know what "piano" means ("quiet" in Italian).
.
Rachmaninoff - Piano Concerto no 2 - Mov 1 (sections 1-10, 14-16) ** VIDEO **
(source footage)
Recorded in 2009 / 08 / 01
Notes: Gettin' there...
.
Rachmaninoff - Piano Concerto no 2 - Mov 1 (intro) ** VIDEO **
(source footage)
-
(source footage in x264 - half the filesize and nearly same quality)
Recorded in 2009 / 04 / 17
Notes: Gettin' there. The next part, un poco piu mosso is fittin to be real tough,
but I'll get through it...
.
Rachmaninoff - Piano Concerto no 2 short intro (deprecated, see below)
Recoorded in 2009 / 02 / 21
Notes: I made a new years resolution in 2009 to learn the concerto. This is very early
progress, posted here only for documentary purposes
.
Rachmaninoff - Piano Concerto no 2 - Mov 1 (ending) ** VIDEO **
(source footage)
-
(source footage in x264 - half the filesize and nearly same quality)
Recorded in 2008 / 02 / 29
Notes: My first attempt at piano on film. Recorded on 6 ft Steinway at Macalester College.
.
Brahms - Intermezzo op 117 no 2 in B flat minor
Recorded in 2007.
Notes: This beautiful yet moody piece by the master composer Brahms has always been a
favorite to listen to, and now it is a favorite to play. Recorded on a 6 ft Steinway in a studio
at Augsburg.
.
Tchaikovsky - Romance op 5
Recorded in 2006.
Notes: Tchaikovsky's F minor Romance (I seem to end up learning a lot of F minor pieces). I
was inspired to learn this by Nick who was learning it himself, and ended up adding a nice little
diddy to my repertoire. A passionate yet subtle piece (I'm still working on the subtilties myself).
.
Variations on Beethoven's 7th Symphony
Recorded in 2005.
Notes: this is a rough sketch of some Variations I've been writing on Beethoven's 7th
Symphony. Hopefully this will be an expanded work before long.
.
Chopin - Nocturne op 55 no 1 in F minor
(or the Rhodes version, recorded on my keyboard listed on the for sale page)
Recorded in 2004.
Notes: recorded on a slightly out of tune piano (especially that crucial F!), but still could
be worse. Also, there is another version of me playing it on my Rhodes 88 Mark 1 stage electric
piano, but I definately prefer the real piano. The Rhodes version has a bit of background,
interference, but overall, I kind of like it's bell-like tonality. See what you think!
.
Rachmaninoff - Piano Concerto no 2 - Mov 2 (excerpt)
Recorded in 2003.
Notes: the recording is quieter than I had intended so turn up your speakers if you can't
hear anything. Also, this is only a few minutes worth of a considerably longer movement, which is
in turn part of an even longer concerto, - possibly my favorite concerto ever.
